william leonard roberts junior goes by the alias of RICK ROSS after the famous 1980s los angeles drug trafficker freeway ricky ross who claimed to make 2 to 3-million dollars a week pushing. the rapper was born in mississippi and grew up in carol city florida. he graduated from high school and attended college at an historically african american university in albany georgia.
his start in the music industry began with slip-n-slide records under DEF JAM. rickross later founded his own record label called MAYBACH MUSIC GROUP on which he released his third studio album earlier this year called deeper than rap.
rickross has been nominated for over 15+ musical awards including the b.e.t. hip hop award for best collaboration he won for the remix of im so hood which was produced by DJ KHALED and featured busta rhymes and ludacris and FAT JOE and young jeezy and BIG BOI and BIRDMAN and lil wayne. his second album TRILLA also won the ozone award for best rap album in 2008 among others.
rickross is equally known for causing various controversies ranging from corrections officer fraud to assaulting a youtube deejay to feuding with other rappers like 50-CENT to gang affiliations to gun and marijuana charges to a class action lawsuit for altering LOUIS VUITTON trademark property.
ross also has a reputation for stunting hard with his sunglasses and has a JESUS PIECE of himself wearing them. plus his massive body is covered with a tattoo collection of dead presidents and other impressive symbols.
