former boxing champion VERNON FORREST was fatally wounded by 2-semi automatic weapons on saturday night by suspects who authorities have identified as 2-black males driving a red monte carlo. he had a 41-3 career boxing record with 29-knockouts!
forrest was the victim of a carjacking robbery and was shot multiple times in the back by 2-men attempting to steal his jaguar. forrest may have provoked the jackers by confronting them with his own weapon and at some point gunfire was exchanged and the victim was shot at least once in the head. and forrests promoter shaw confirmed him 100% dead this morning at the fulton county medical examiners office.
oddly enough forrest was the 3rd-prominent boxer to die this month?! alexis arguello was found dead in his home in managua NICARAGUA and canadian boxer arturo gatti was strangled to death by his wife at a hotel in BRAZIL recently.
forrest is a former WBC super welterweight champion. in 2002 he beat SUGAR SHANE MOSLEY 2-times and reclaimed his WBC 154-pound title by beating sergio mora in his last fight which was in september of 2008.
last april vernon forrest suffered a rib injury while training to fight against jason lehoullier and the fight was canceled. and tentative plans for a title fight against sergio matrinez in october were also pushed back due to that same rib injury.
