aubrey drake graham is a 22-year old canadian born television actor who started attracting attention in 2001 for his role as JIMMY BROOKS on the show called degrassi: the next generation.
degrassi nextgen takes place 14-years after the cult hit tv show degrassi junior high as sturents continue to deal with serious obstacles of being a teenager like rape and homosexuality and bullying and violence as well as teen pregnancy and abortion and religion and so on. drakes character jimmy is known for rescuing his friend marco when he was assaulted by gay bashers and for being disabled by a classmate shooting where he loses the use of his legs and is then alienated and forced to give up athletics and turns to drawing and painting.
in 2006 DRAKE released his first mixtape called ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT and started capitalizing from the buzz on myspace and other viral media. drake released another popular mixtape called COMEBACK SEASON and became the first unsigned canadian rapper to have his video featured on BET with TREY SONGZ for their song replacement girl in april of 2007. in 2008 he released a third mixtape entitled HEARTBREAK DRAKE which helped to gain him even more acclaim.
in june of 2009 he signed a record deal with YOUNG MONEY ENTERTAINMENT after one of the biggest bidding wars ever in rap. his official solo debut album entitled THANK ME LATER will be released some time at the end of this year with confirmed collaboration tracks with KANYE WEST and JAY-Z.
this summer drake has been touring on the AMERICA'S MOST WANTED TOUR with LIL WAYNE and other rap artists such as YOUNG JEEZY and soulja boy and jeremih and pleasure p as well as other young money artists. on the camden new jersey stop of the tour drake had an accident on stage and broke his leg while performing his single called best i ever had and has had to miss the rest of the tour however CHRIS BROWN took his place at their virginia beach show. he is currently undergoing surgery but is still able to walk.
and although rumors have been swirling around online about a romantic relationship between drake and RIHANNA both parties have denied the claims stating that they are just good friends. another rumor circulating online which has to be smashed is that drake is the new KANYE WEST finna take his place or whatever . . . not so much !!
