BARACK FOR PEACE

yesterday morning PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA was announced as the 90th NOBEL PEACE PRIZE laureate. this years awards committee bestowed the honor on president obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.


the nobel peace prize was one of 5-nobel prizes bequeathed by the swedish industrialist and inventor alfred nobel. and according to his will the peace prize should be awarded to "the person who shall have done the most of the best work for fraternity between nations for the abolition and reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses."


the last united states president to win this award was WOODROW WILSON in 1919 for founding the league of nations. the league of nations was an inter governmental organization that was founded after the treaty of versailles in 1919-1920 to uphold new rights of non whites and rights of women and of soldiers to prevent war through collective security. the league of nations settled disputes between countries through negotiation and diplomacy to improve the global quality of life.
