bay area hip-hop artist turned rap battle ceo @LUSHONE has been getting a whole lotta viral plug recently between his grindtime videos on youtube and the nonperishables compilation album and the new single he released last week entitled FRESHEN UP which i suggest you click RIGHT HERE to download it for free right now -- it knocks !!

so in light of all this recent fame and good fortune i decided i should interview the man behind the music about a few #trendingtopics in hip-hop and particularly whats real with @lushone and his conglomerate COCONUTS ENTERTAINMENT . . .


@BTANGSTAR: i have heard you mention "originality" in several of your songs. why is that so important to you?

@LUSHONE: it always has been. im young by oldschool standards but i was always taught to respect the legacy of b-boy rule #1 -- ALWAYS BE ORIGINAL. [being new and original] personifies the word 'fresh' and the entire FRESH COAST MOVEMENT. it doesnt even have to do with HIP-HOP CULTURE or any particular artistic medium -- originality and individuality in all aspects of life are [ideals] that i hold sacred. the deeper i get into the entertainment industry the more and more ive learned how much the entire machine is run by biting and taking other peoples ideas and trends and exploiting them for its own benefit.

...this creates a stale creative climate and overall undesirable watered down product. now that some of the concepts and ideas of the [projects] ive been involved in are gaining enough recognition to be leached and sharked to the extent that they are i felt it necessary to write a song about all that hence FRESHEN UP.

@BTANGSTAR: i heard you are sponsored by some clothing companies. is that true?

@LUSHONE: shoutouts to fresh jive and gold coin and im king and 2 thorough and zoomdout and karmaloopcodes.com and nice vibes and all the other urban apparel brands that have been showing us love and freshening up my wardrobe. i love all of those companies and they have been very generous. i got my eyes on some more mature gear as well -- im really into blazers and slacks and [clothing] of that nature as well.

@BTANGSTAR: is cognac your favorite drink?

@LUSHONE: i really enjoy a good cognac. i know its cliche but i am an avid HENNESSY drinker -- such a smooth sophisticated flavor makes me feel like i should be rocking a crushed velvet or velour roselli robe like the kind @hughhefner wears. i had some hennessey xo once and it was a glimpse into the heavens.

@BTANGSTAR: tell me more about the battle rap scene you mention in freshen up and please explain to the fans at home who do not know your musical history about how you have made a name for yourself in hip-hop.

@LUSHONE: ...if yall dont know tho i am the co ceo of the worlds largest battle rap circuit and fastest growing urban media conglomerate called GRIND TIME -- www.grindtimenow.com -- over 30-million total online views!

i have been grinding for years as have many of my peers to create and establish a worldwide network of creative and progressive minded individuals. my crew DELINQUENT MONASTERY and my company COCONUTS ENTERTAINMENT and the entire FRESH COAST MOVEMENT are huge projects that i have been working on for several years with many sub projects within each of them.

i am an enterprise all by myself not just an entrepreneur but an enterprise. im startrek muthafucka!

@BTANGSTAR: what are the next few projects we can expect from coconuts entertainment?

@LUSHONE: i am working on a solo project called NICK CARLETTI'S WALLS OF GOLD PAIN as well as new DELMON projects. and @plexrock and i are doing shows in france next month and recording new material with the upcoming french powerhouse label CHINESE MAN RECORDS...cocunuts ent. is growing so much and so fast we fallin out the tree all over unsuspecting natives heads. its on like that. 2010 and beyond is ours and if youre rolling with us then it can be yours too.
