Sources close to Hip-Hop superstar Wyclef Jean say that he will announce his bid for President of Haiti on Thursday August 5th. The 37-year-old rapper who was born in Haiti sprung into action when his native land was leveled out by a 7.0 earthquake last January that killed over 300,000 people and displaced and injured many others. Since the quake Clef has helped to raise over $10 million dollars through his Yele Haiti organization with his uncle Raymond Alcide Joseph, who has been the Haitian ambassador to the U.S. for the past 5 years. With Clef's financial connections, influence amongst Haitian youth and his clout around the world political analysts are predicting that Clef will easily win this race. Clef has maintained his status as a citizen of Haiti and is now reportedly in the country where is preparing for his upcoming campaign. Elections are slated for November 28th of this year.
