American painter Cy Twombly recently became the 3rd contemporary artist to install a permanent work at the Louvre in Paris with his newly commissioned ceiling. The work covers more than 350-square meters in the Salle des Bronzes and is inscribed with Greek names of 4th century sculptors. The artist has been living in Italy since 1959 and was inspired by the lapis lazuli paint used by Italian Renaissance artist Giotto.
