THE REAL RICH HIL

Due to modern technological advances I had the privilege of interviewing the artist Rich Hil live from New York this evening on UStream. He spoke about The Wu-Tang Clan, Clothes, Drugs and all that is relevant. Richard is a 20-year old musician originally from Glenville Connecticut - A suburb in the south near Stanford and the son of the international clothing mogul and designer Tommy Hilfiger. Rich grew up on Classic Rock - His all time favorite musicians are Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison and he started listening to rap when he was 10-years old. He got his first tattoo right before his 18th birthday and is now covered from the neck down in mostly black ink with a few specks of red. Ricky was recently sent to rehab against his own will but managed to make a mixtape while he was locked up called RICKY GOES TO REHAB. He is just about to release his next project entitled I JUST GOT OUTTA REHAB which he previewed for us on UStream - I can honestly say that it's one of the most inspired mixtapes I have heard in a while. "When you're in an institution it blocks your creativity so it's hard to be creative in an institution," Rick said. This new project is about that creative release and although he finds genres a bit limiting I would classify his work as deeply heartfelt contemporary hippie soul music - Don't call Rich a rapper though. About pop music he said "I don't fuck with mainstream artists." He did name Method Man as his favorite member of the Wu, said Dirt Nasty is a good friend and cited The Panther as his uncle and mentor. Shouts to: The Pricks, Curency and Boobonic, Rockie Fresh, Cuddtastic, Curtains, Nero and Push Montana.
