SUMMER AIDS

DOES SWIMMING IN THE OCEAN REALLY CAUSE AIDS?

NO! good news summer beach goers, swimming in the ocean will not get you a case of the AIDS as long as you follow these 5-simple rules:

1. AVOID ENCLOSED BEACHES- bacteria levels are much higher at beaches with poor tidal circulation. although they may appear cute and inviting to families always check the conditions carefully, i.e. mothers beach in marina del rey and harborside cabrillo beach.

2. CHECK THE BEACH REPORT CARD- grades are based on bacteria levels for 400+ beaches in cali and heres the link:  http://www.healthebay.org/brcv2/default.aspx

3. AVOID FLOWING STORM DRAINS- the contain "urban runoff" and cause human illness. its safe to stay 100-yards away.

4. ALWAYS WAIT 72-HOURS AFTER A RAIN STORM- ocean water is much cleaner and safer to swim in when the weather is dry.

5. DO NOT PLAY IN STORM DRAIN PUDDLES- they are breeding ground for bacteria and are never safe for swimming.
