is a brand new non profit organization founded by andrew brin and nicole beattie whose mission is to provide funding for quality addiction treatment for people who cannot afford it but who have strong motivation for recovery.everyone deserves the best treatment available and it is the privilege of @FREERECOVERY [yes they already have their own twitter account] to raise money to fill in the huge gaps left by insurance companies and the economy and ignorance and intolerance and over priced medical facilities to help to help alcoholics and drug addicts receive proper treatment for their disease.
the organization was founded by @DTOX who has worked in the treatment setting as a counselor for over 10+ years with hundreds and hundreds of addicts and their families who have struggled with the eminent challenge of receiving good care. and nicole beattie whose father struggled with alcoholism and homelessness and a subsequent inability to receive quality treatment and who passed away in may of 2003.
@freerecovery believes that addiction is a progressive and fatal disease for which there exists very effective treatment which typically costs about $10-dollars per minute in this crazy town running you a bill of about $100,000.00 once youve sobered up. only the most expensive health insurance covers quality treatment for addictions and even then it pays for the lowest level of care like emergency rooms and government run psychiatric programs and homeless shelter and so on. however @freerecovery offers proper resources to any addict with a strong motivation for recovery !!
