the rhythm and blues legend TEDDY PENDERGRASS passed away yesterday he was only 59-years old.
his career began in the late 1960s when he was a drummer for THE CADILLACS which soon merged with a group called HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES. he began his solo career in 1977 with his self titled debut album. pendergrass went on to receive many accolades such as grammy nominations and a billboard award for 1977 pop album new artist and an american music award for best r & b performer of 1978.
in 1982 pendergrass as involved in a serious car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down but did not prevent him from recording albums. however most recently he underwent colon cancer surgery that had a difficult recovery and apparently he died of some complications.
the world has lost one of its greatest voices and performers. our hearts go out to his family during this very difficult time.
