there are some really awesome cartoon turtles i would like to acknowledge for a moment. cecil turtle was born to looney tunes in 1941. yertle by DOCTOR SEUSS. in 1985 the rock band red hot chili peppers made a rap song homage to seuss's yertle on their second ep called FREAKY STYLEY. tooter (tudor) turtle was on tv in the 1960s. touche turtle of the HANNAH BARBERA GANG is a fencer and probably the cutest of them all. and of course the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES who got their own cbs series starting in 1987. and also aford comic strip by aaron riddle who is in the newspaper today.
the amazing TURTLE SPECIES dates back to 215-million years ago. the largest turtles are the aquatic ones. there are 14-families with about 300-species alive today some of which are ENDANGERED !! tsav (zav) means turtle in hebrew and honu is hawaiian. and le lievre et la tortue is famous 17th century poem by jean de la fontaine adapted from the tortoise and the hare, a fable by aesop.
