OSCAR DE LA HOYA is an american olympic gold medalist who comes from a legacy of mexican boxers in his family. he is a light middle weight who has won 10-world titles in 6-different weight classes and has defeated 17-world champions.
de la hoya generated an estimated $696-million dollar pay per view income and brought in more money than any other boxer in the history of the sport. and he officially announced his retirement from boxing earlier this year at a press conference in los angeles.
oscar de la hoya is a father to 3-kids from 2-different BABY MAMAS and has also been nominated for a grammy! in 2000 he released a latin pop album with songs in english and spanish written by the bee gees which was released through emi international. he has starred in a reality television show on fox and has published both an autobiography and an award winning childrens book.
de la hoya also formed a company called golden boy partners, a division of golden boy enterprises, which focuses on URBAN DEVELOPMENT in latino communities. and has donated millions of dollars to charitable organizations including underprivileged youth education programs.
he is a member of the united states olympic hall of fame. and in december of 2008 a 7-foot tall bronze statue of oscar de la hoya was unveiled outside the staples center in ellay.
